Less than two months to go to the regatta in the Elbe sea of the legendary “Finnish swans”
Less than two months before the start, preparations are underway at the Sailing club in Marciana Marina for the organization of the 10th S&S Swan Rendez-vous (for the sixth time since 2009) the event reserved for yachts designed by the famous New York studio Sparkman & Stephens.
There are over 800 examples of Swans that have come out of the pencils of US designers who still sail on the seas and oceans of the world and there will be almost 50 who will compete on the regatta course of the main island of the Tuscan archipelago from 28 June to 2 July next .
Large international fleet
A large international fleet with boats and owners from Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Finland, Switzerland, England, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Brazil: it will not only be a sporting event, but a a meeting point for owners who have a great love for their boats, the best ever produced in series and unrepeatable, and who will sail for thousands of miles to meet again every two years in the Mediterranean. One example is the S&S Swan 40 “Star Swan” which will arrive in the port of the Elba town from Portugal, after a navigation of almost 2000 miles.
10th S&S Swan Rendez-vous important female presence
In this year of the tenth anniversary, the female presence will also be important with over 25% of women – 11 the “pink quota” of the fleet – owners/helmsmen: according to their male opponents, they are also the best and the feminine sensitivity to rudder is not in question.
At sea, the participants will compete in a series of coastal trials, but many collateral activities will create great social moments: in Piazza Bonanno (on the seafront of the town of Elba) where the Regatta Village will be located – set up thanks to the precious collaboration of Nautor Swan , ClubSwan Racing and their team, also in this case all female – the welcome cocktail will be hosted.
The award ceremony, which will take place at the Sporting Club Marciana Marina, will conclude the event: not only will the sporting results be awarded (both in the three divisions and the overall ranking), but as is by now consolidated custom, the prize for the Best Maintained and Original S&S Swan and the Zeppelin Trophy for the Most Elegant S&S Swan awards that represent another great example of how these boats have more than a competitive vocation represent in all respects the spirit of the owners.
Marciana Marina Sailing Club
The 10th S&S Swan Rendez-vous will be dedicated to Lars Strom, who passed away recently , the greatest friend that S&S Swan Owners have ever had and for over 30 years in charge of the design office of the Finnish shipyard Nautor Swan and takes place with the organization of Sailing club Marciana Marina in collaboration with the S&S Swan Association and under the patronage of the Municipality of Marciana Marina.
