Chiessi, a seaside village that has not forgotten the ancient farming traditions, allowing us to still breathe the air of the island of past years . The rustic square granite , located just above the gravel beach , surrounded by a unusual smooth cliff on the sides.
The Wreck of Chiessi
In October 1967, at 500 m. from the coast, on a depth of about 50 m. to the south of the Island of Elba, the Wreck of Chiessi a cargo ship was identified. The site, which at the time of discovery was impressive, so much so as to suggest the presence of over 3000 amphorae or a “cathedral” of amphorae.
Trekking
For lovers of nature walks, the village offers several paths, one of them the most popular allows you to explore the upper part of the valle di Chiessi and coincides for a stretch with the path of San Bartolomeo. We start by taking the path that begins on the provincial road (n. 125) of the Western Ring, just past the bridge leaving the village in the direction of Punta Nera.
