2021 Italian Drifting Championship for Clubs
The 2021 competitive calendar of the Circolo della Vela Marciana Marina will open from 6 to 9 May next with an important fishing event, the Italian Drifting Championship for companies 2021, organized in collaboration with the Italian Federation of Sport Fishing and Underwater Activities and in particular the FIPSAS Provincial Section of Livorno.
It is a type of fishing included in the Big Game Fishing, fishing that involves the capture of both pelagic and sedentary predatory fish: Drifting is a specialty that contemplates the use of a boat drifting or at anchor (the choice of method depends on the weather and sea conditions) and mainly tuna fishing with the exclusive use of sardine as bait and groundbait.
It is an “ecological” specialty as the fish is not caught, but released after measurement in water.
The participating teams – 20 companies with 47 teams from all over Italy have already confirmed participation, including 3 Elban crews – will meet at CVMM on Thursday 6 May for accreditation and briefing, while the actual races will take place in the two following days on 7 and 8 May with the start of the 1st and 2nd heat respectively starting at 8.00 and continuing until late afternoon. The award ceremony will take place at the end of the 2nd run on Saturday 8 May.
Sunday 9 May will be used if the weather and sea conditions do not allow the holding of at least one of the heats provided for in the program.
The event will be held under the patronage of the Municipality of Marciana Marina and with the support of Acqua dell’Elba, Elba Bevande, Sporting Club Marciana Marina, Amici del Mare Marciana Marina, La Bottega del Pescatore, Ondazzurra Nautica, Lowrance, Ristorante La Vecchia Marina , Top Game Top Fishing, Italcanna, Lawley Jeans, Hotel Marinella.
