Let’s hug them Tour 2024 – Elba Island
Also this year the Marciana Marina Sailing Club will support the 7th edition of Elbaswim 647, now a classic early autumn solidarity event organized by Abbracciamoli Onlus. The aim of Abbracciamoli Onlus is the fight against childhood leukemia and all proceeds from the events are dedicated to pediatric haemato-oncology departments.
Enthusiasts of open water swimming – Italian and international athletes, competitors and simple enthusiasts will participate – will give life to this event which will see swimmers cover various distances in the splendid stretch of sea of the island of Elba between Portoferraio and Marciana Marina. The accreditation operations for participants will begin on Friday 18 October at the Hotel Marinella in Marciana Marina.
Progress of the Elbaswim 647 event
The Elbaswim 647 event includes three tests on Saturday 19 October at distances of 12 km, 6 km and 3.5 km. On Sunday morning the adventure ends with a fun three-way relay, where each competitor covers 1,000 m before taking over from his partner.
Security and supervision on the competition fields is also guaranteed by the State Police, Guardia di Finanza, Port Authority, SNS Livorno Mare, Sea Kayak Italy and the Abbracciamoli team, active both on land and at sea.
During the event, a free cardiological screening service dedicated to event participants will also be available at the Circolo della Vela premises, organized by the SPERanza per il cuore association, with the aim of preventing heart disease.
Elbaswim 647 with the support of CVMM, Elbadiving and acqua dell’Elba
The 7th edition of Elbaswim 647 takes place with the support of the CVMM, which will provide the vehicles that will follow the swimmers, Elbadiving and Elba water and is sponsored by the Municipalities of Marciana Marina and Portoferraio.

FRIDAY 18 OCTOBER
18:00 Opening of accreditation at Hotel Marinella, Viale Margherita, 38, Marciana Marina
19:00 Briefing, delivery of race packs to those present, registration for the 1k3 relay 20:00 Dinner at Hotel Marinella (for those who have booked half board or dinner reservation)
SATURDAY 19 OCTOBER
08:00 Opening of accreditation at Hotel Marinella, Viale Margherita, 38, Marciana Marina
09:00 Opening of the “Elba Swim 647” competition field at Spiaggia delle Ghiaie: athlete accreditation, briefing for athletes who show up directly at the start, delivery of labeled supplies to the dinghy, delivery of bags (they must be numbered), control of athlete attendance and preparation for the swim.
10:00 Start Elba Swim 647 At Capo Enfola there will be a main refueling point for swimmers coming from the Ghiaie (the preparation of the refueling bag is the responsibility of the athlete)
10.15am Opening of the competition field “Elba Swim 647 Middle” in Capo Enfola. Delivery of bags (must be numbered). Check the presence of athletes and preparation for the swim.
11:15 Start Elba Swim 647 Middle (approximately 6k)
11:30 Opening of the competition field “Elba Swim 647 One Third” in Isola della Paolina. Check the presence of athletes and preparation for the swim. ATTENTION: it is advisable not to bring bags or bags to the Paolina beach but prepare yourself before going down. If it is absolutely necessary, please limit bags and similar items as much as possible. The delivery of the bags to be returned to the collection point will be made before descending to the beach.
12:15 Start Elba Swim 647 One Third (approximately 3k)
2.30pm Arrival at the beach in front of Hotel Marinella and closing of the storm gate; refreshment available at the end of the swim.
