Acquaviva
The Acquaviva beach is just under 100 meters long, is made up of sand and small gravel, is located on the northern side of the island of Elba and is exposed to north winds. It is located on the road that leads from Portoferraio to Enfola. A detour on the right, just before Viticcio, indicates the beach and Camping Acquaviva .
The Gulf and Punta Acquaviva
The beach of the acquaviva is enclosed in a small gulf, to its left, a stretch of cliff and a lush pine forest crossed by a path that after 400 meters, partly on the sea and partly in the vegetation, reaches the nearby Sorgente beach (or Acquavivetta) and Samson . On the right, Punta Acquaviva with an imposing cliff where in the past there was the boundary stone of Cosmopoli .
The toponym of the Acquaviva beach
The name is perhaps due to the beauty of the water that we find at the beach, but other possibilities are more plausible.
That the name is inherited from the ditch of the acquaviva (dry in the summer), which descends from the hill of the Cime 229m above sea level which with its continuous transport of sediments has created the beach. Another possibility that comes from an ancient source, located near the town. Near the beach we also find another place called the Fontanaccio. Another note to the advantage of this thesis is that the beach a> nearby is called La Sorgente, all names referring to water, which give greater probability to a natural spring that gave the area its toponym.
Snorkeling at Acquaviva
The beach is located in a stretch of coast and sea, very nice for snorkeling. Right in front of the Acquaviva beach, at a depth of 3 meters, there is a huge slab, rich in fish species. The beach is very close to the Scoglietto marine protected area.

How to reach Acquaviva beach
Taking the provincial road that from Portoferraio leads to Enfola, after about 2 km, on the right you will find signs for the beach and Camping Acquaviva. Continue for 300 meters and you have arrived at the car park, located before the entrance to Camping Acquaviva. By asking it is possible with a fair price, to park inside the campsite and use their services.
During the summer it is possible to reach the beach with the Portoferraio BUS line, Enfola , Viticcio.
