Science and music meet on Elba for a charity evening

Science and music meeting with Gasparini on Elba, a program dedicated to music and health for an unmissable event in Portoferraio, Saturday 21 September at 9.00 pm at the Teatro dei Vigilanti “Renato Cioni” and the following day, Sunday 22 September at 9.30 am, at the Hotel Airone, with a medical luminary: Prof. Stefano Gasparini, internationally renowned interventional pulmonologist, who will be protagonist at the Elba Island of a charity evening with a monologue on the theme “Breathing, pneumology and music” and, later in the same evening, as a passionate musician of harmonica which is considered a valid tool for the treatment of respiratory diseases. Gasparini is President of WABIP – World Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology

The initiative was born on the proposal of Dr. Bruno Giusti, an Elban resident in the Marche but still very attached to his island, an expert in oncological aesthetics. Welcomed favorably by the Isola d’Elba Foundation, which takes care of its organization together with its director Patrizia Lupi, the idea was welcomed and sponsored by the Municipality of Portoferraio a> and the Cosimo de’ Medici Society who made the Theater available.

Telemedicine for patient care

Also sponsored by the USL Toscana Nord Ovest with the participation of the UOC General Medicine directed by Dr. Riccardo Cecchetti, who will moderate the work of the following day, Sunday 22 September, in the conference room of the Hotel Airone, where a specialist conference by Prof. Gasparini will be held on the topics of pneumology followed by a conference on telemedicine. Prof. Alberto Giannoni of the Sant’Anna School of Pisa will participate and is conducting an experimentation of the system in Tuscany with the General Medicine Unit of Portoferraio with a report entitled: “Telemedicine: the Tuscany Health Ecosystem project”. Followed by Dr. Riccardo Cecchetti will report on “Telemedicine for patient care”. Finally, on the topic of “The proximity network on Elba” Dr. Guido Vagheggini and Dr. Liborio Sardo of the Pneumology Section attached to the General Medicine UOC. Greetings for the USL Tuscany North West will be conveyed by the District Area Director, Dr. Fabio Chetoni and the head of the Portoferraio Hospital, Dr. Luigi Genghi. Given the importance of the initiative, the National Association “Let’s Breathe Together APS” also gave its patronage.

Elba Island Foundation

The two days are possible thanks to the generous support, to cover costs, of the Elba Island Foundation, the Acqua dell’Elba Foundation, the Elba Island Lions Club, the Elba Island Rotary Club, the Soroptimist International Club of Elba Island, Nocentini Group and FAP Hotel Supplies. The concert on September 21st will have free entry, like the conference on Sunday: participants will be able to contribute with a free donation for a fundraiser that will be held at the Theater, for the purchase of medical equipment for the General Medicine Unit to implement the proximity medicine in relation to the “Hospital without walls” project.

Doing good is good

“Doing good is good”: the concert on September 21st is an opportunity not to be missed to generously support public health in Elba, taking part in a special evening where harmony and science dialogue with the entire community. The evening will begin with greetings from the Mayor, Tiziano Nocentini, and the President of the Foundation, Marco Mantovani and the initiative’s partners. Dr. Riccardo Cecchetti will introduce the event. Director of the General Medicine Unit of the Portoferraio Hospital while Rossella Celebrini will present the evening, also in the capacity of a volunteer like all the organizers. The musicians who will accompany Prof. Gasparini for the concert “Respiro & Music” are Donatella Duranti, Nunzia Senigagliesi, Catia Antonini, Marcello Colò.
