The 2024 Elba Rally will be the first round of the International Rally Cup, valid for the first time for the Mitropa Rally Cup, the iconic Aci Livorno competition will be presented in the prestigious context of the “Sala Sassoli” of the Tuscany Regional Council in Florence.
Seven special tests are scheduled over two days of competition on 26 and 27 April, with Portoferraio still the beating heart of the event.
Some new features have been proposed on the route which certainly remains linked to tradition.
Elba Rally 2024 increasingly international
Aci Livorno Sport has worked hard together with the Elban community to return to proposing the 2024 Elba Rally on an increasingly international scale, highlighted by having included the competition in the prestigious Mitropa Rally Cup, of which the 2024 season is the third stage. Thanks to the entry into this famous competition, historic cars will also be admitted to the “modern” Elba Rally, a sector of motorsport that goes well with the exclusivity of the location offered by the largest island of the Tuscan archipelago.
We therefore continue to look at sport as a propellant to encourage tourism on the island in a deseasonalized period, therefore ideally opening the season. That long season which will close with the other rally competition, the “historic” one at the end of September, this year again valid for Europe as well as the Italian one.
Portoferraio still the hub of the Elba Rally
Portoferraio is confirmed as the beating heart of the race, with start and finish of the 2024 Elba Rally, as well as providing the Race Direction, secretariat and press room at the Hotel Airone, in Località San Giovanni, on the road that leads to Porto Azzurro.
57th Rallye Elba 7 special stages in two days of competition
Seven special tests are scheduled over two days of competition, for 102.620 competitive kilometers compared to a total of 268.650. The routes will be the classic ones offered by the island, “piesse” known internationally, both challenging and exciting, which have for years been the scene of duels for both the “modern” and the “historic” race in September.
The eastern part of the island will be involved in the race on the first day of the race, Friday 26 April, with three special stages, two of which involve Capoliveri while the the next day, Saturday 27th, the race will take place in the western part with the focus on the famous and feared Monte Perone, taking advantage of another four races. A solution adopted some time ago so as not to be too invasive with the normality of life in Elba, whose citizens are always enthusiastic about welcoming “their” rallye. Departure of the Elba Rally 2024 from Portoferraio in Viale Elba from 5.00 pm, then three timed commitments and entry into the night reorganization from 10.45 pm.
On Saturday 27th the challenge will resume from 9.00 am which will include four new commitments, to see the checkered arrival flag wave from 4.00 pm in the same place.
Some news on the route of the 57th Rallye Elba
In detail, in a route of the 57th Rallye Elba, it reflects tradition, there will be no lack of novelty: it will be the “piesse” of Marciana Marina, on the second day of the race.
The famous tests of Monte Perone are proposed again in a direction from north to south, with the absolute novelty of a stretch of road leaving the town of Marciana Marina at the start of the test called “Marciana Marina-Marciana-Campo”, starting from the field sports on the SP25, in a stretch that has not been covered by the race for many years, a novelty that recalls the unforgettable 80s of the race. You then reach the intersection with the “Civillina”, a road already traveled in all the recent editions of the Elba Rallies to reach the gates of Marciana and then in Poggio, where it meets with the PS “Due Mari”.
Shakedown news
News in the 2024 Elba Rally also regarding the “Shakedown”, in this case to involve Portoferraio more and more. It will take place on a stretch of road of the famous “Colle Reciso” test, but in the opposite direction to the classic development of the test. Basically, we start not far from the event headquarters, the Hotel Airone, excluding nearby homes. The solution is optimal for the competitors and their teams as it is close to the Service Park.
