CESVOT – Let’s Meet at Diversi and the Elba Island Foundation
In Livorno, at the City Council Chamber, the certificates were presented to the eight winners based in Livorno and the Province by Councilor for Social Affairs Andrea Raspanti, President of the Livorno Foundation Luciano Barsotti, and Riccardo Andreini of CESVOT. Receiving the award for Elba were Renzo Mazzei, president of Incontriamoci in Diversi, and Patrizia Lupi, director of the Fondazione Isola d’Elba.
Baskin is the acronym for “Inclusive Basketball”
Baskin is an acronym for “Inclusive Basketball,” a competitive sport in which athletes with and without disabilities play on the same team. Thanks to an innovative set of rules, each player plays a key role in the team’s success.
The project welcomes young people with disabilities (autism spectrum, intellectual-relational, or motor) and neurotypical children. In addition to motor and cognitive development, the program focuses on intergenerational dialogue, inclusion and personal autonomy, and social integration to counteract the isolation of vulnerable individuals. The key operational role will be played by Dolphins Elba Baskin ASD, which already coaches the children and is officially registered with the EISI (Italian Inclusive Sports Agency). The educational program uses certified methodologies, such as ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) techniques, applied by professional educators to foster the children’s independence.
Thanks to the Elban organizations
President Renzo Mazzei thanks the project’s supporters: Fondazione Exodus La Mammoletta, Tip Tap One asd, Pro Loco Porto Azzurro aps, I Sogni di Anna odv, Confraternita Misericordia di Porto Azzurro odv, and finally the Fondazione Isola d’Elba ETS, a strategic partner that has established itself as a point of reference in building an operational network among Elba’s Third Sector Entities (ETS). “The goal,” states Patrizia Lupi, “is to encourage the exchange of ideas, projects, services, and human resources, allowing even the smallest organizations to access significant funding and structure complex activities. In fact, on April 17, the Foundation, in collaboration with CESVOT, will open a helpdesk at its headquarters on Viale Teseo Tesei to assist, support, and consolidate Elba’s volunteer network.”
Let’s meet in different odv and Dolphin Elba Baskin
In the next few days, Incontriamoci in Diversi odv and Dolphin Elba Baskin will provide the calendar of activities that will take place throughout the year. “An important result – underlines Renzo Mazzei – made possible by Monica, Stefania, the coaches and all those who believed in the project. Now it’s a matter of really getting down to business to give an opportunity to our kids but also to all those who believe that solidarity is an essential element for the well-being of the community.”
