The “Incontriamoci in Diversi” Association, with the support of the Isola d’Elba Foundation, has been awarded the “You Are Present. Youth and Associationism” funding.
Baskin Elba Educational Sports Path, a victory for sport, but above all for social inclusion on the Elba territory. The “Incontriamoci in Diversi” APS Association, leader in collaboration with the Fondazione Isola d’Elba ETS, partners announce the admission to funding for the “Baskin Elba Educational Sports Path” project (code SP6152) as part of the “Siete Presente” 2026 call for proposals.
The fundamental and operational role will be played by the newly formed Dolphins Elba Baskin ASD which already trains the boys and is officially registered with EISI (Italian Inclusive Sports Organization).
The educational program uses certified methodologies, such as ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) techniques, applied by professional educators to foster the children’s autonomy. The project, part of the “You Are Here. Youth and Associations” call for proposals, developed by Cesvot and funded by the Tuscany Region – Giovanisì in agreement with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and with the contribution of the Livorno Foundation, was positively evaluated by the examining commission, obtaining a grant of €5,000.00.
Baskin, an acronym for “Inclusive Basketball”
Baskin (an acronym for “Inclusive Basketball”) is not simply an adapted activity, but a true competitive sport in which athletes with and without disabilities play on the same team. Thanks to an innovative set of rules, each player plays a key role in the team’s success. The project welcomes young people with disabilities (autism spectrum, intellectual-relational, or motor) and neurotypical youth. In addition to motor and cognitive development, the program focuses on personal autonomy and social integration to counteract the isolation of vulnerable individuals. To date, the organization already has 24 members from the municipalities of Portoferraio, Rio, Capoliveri, Campo nell’Elba and Marciana Marina.
Elba’s Third Sector Bodies (ETS)
This achievement would not have been possible without a shared vision. The Fondazione Isola d’Elba ETS, a strategic partner of the project, confirms its role as a fundamental pillar in building an operational network among Elba’s Third Sector Entities (ETS).
The goal is to foster the exchange of ideas, projects, services, and human resources, enabling even the smallest businesses to access significant funding and structure complex activities.
Let’s Meet in Different Association
“The importance of the volunteer network is crucial – says the President of the Incontriamoci in diversi Association, Renzo Mazzei. It is the engine that allows us to give legs to ideas and attract economic resources to the area that would otherwise be lost. Collaborating means putting the general interest at the center, providing concrete answers to the most vulnerable people and demonstrating that diversity is a strength, never a limitation.”
The Incontriamoci in Diversi association has been officially invited to the press conference to present the results, which will be held on Tuesday March 31 at 11:00 a.m. at the Municipality of Livorno, where a certificate of merit will be awarded. The project’s executive activities will begin on April 7, 2026.
