Tower Marciana Marina

The Tower of Marciana Marina dates back to the XII century, being Marciana Marina in that period subjected to Pisan domination, it suggests that this is of Pisan origin, even if due to its configuration, it suggests that it was built in the Medici era.

In the battle of Meloria, which took place in 1284, the Pisans suffered a serious defeat and lost, in addition to their possessions, also their autonomy. In the same period the Appiano, lords of Piombino took possession of Marciana Marina. For many years it was the residence of the Marinese writer Raffaello Brignetti. The tower cannot be visited inside, as it is private property.
