Elba Island Foundation turns 10 years old

For the tenth anniversary of the Elba Island Foundation arrives in Florence

The Elba Island Foundation arrives in Florence to present, at the Reginal Council of Tuscany, the activity carried out in the sectors of culture, economy, health, environment and social issues in the ten years since its establishment. Particular attention was paid to the ongoing projects: “Citizens Custodians of Elba’s Rural Culture” and “Archive of Elba’s Memory” which have obtained from both the Region and the Ministry of Culture part of the funding necessary to complete them by December 2024.

Celebration for the tenth anniversary of the Elba Island Foundation

The tenth anniversary of the Foundation Elba Island will be celebrated with a series of initiatives on May 4th, starting from 5.30 pm, at the ‘Hotel Airone in San Giovanni (Portoferrraio) to which the members of the Foundation are invited but also all the associations participating in the projects and citizens interested in collaborating with the Foundation .

At 5.30 pm some experts from the world of associations, universities and businesses from all over Italy will address, during a round table, the themes of sustainable development, corporate social responsibility, active citizenship and social equity.

This will be followed by a dinner that will showcase local products and traditional cuisine. At 9.30pm, again in the rooms of the Hotel Airone, the theater show “Partita Doppia – social responsibility on stage” will be held, dedicated to the figures of the entrepreneurs who set the tone in the 1900s and in particular to the history of the Olivetti family.

In Florence, Marco Mantovani, president, and Patrizia Lupi, director, together with regional councilor Marco Landi, spoke about their experience and that of the numerous members of the Isola d’Elba, involved in the various commissions. “The Foundation was born on the initiative of some entrepreneurs but calling together the whole communitywith its 325 members – explained Marco Mantovani – to share an ethical vision of development based on social solidarity, the recognition of skills and talents, personal commitment in favor of the community, with the aim of enhancing and protecting the cultural, environmental and social heritage of the Island”.

A fragile island however beautiful and precious – continued Marco Landi – which is facing important future choices on issues of healthcare, maritime and air transport and internal mobility, training and creation of new jobs, of sustainable tourism, spread over a wider period of time thanks to a territory very rich in bio and geodiversity and in cultural, food and wine and welfare proposals. A challenge that concerns not only the institutions but all citizens to outline a project for the future together

The Florentine event concluded by sharing the Foundation’s vision with the journalists present: “The most important result we have achieved in recent years, after the pandemic – explained Patrizia Lupi – was the network we have created with many non-profit associations that, like us, follow the new rules of the Third Sector. We intend to promote and above all facilitate, through forms of public-private partnership, ideas and proposals also from other subjects, building bridges between people and places which, through active participation and social cohesion,make it stronger, dynamic and the Elban community is in solidarity.”
