Capoliveri is preparing to welcome the “Flavors and Traditions of Elba” Fair
From 29 April to 1 May 2024 in Capoliveri, Elba Island
Great mobilization for the first edition of the “Flavors and Traditions of Elba” Fair, an event that promises to be one of the best in the calendar of Elba events dedicated to the production, transformation and administration of the island’s products.
All gathered for Flavors and Traditions of Elba
For Flavors and Traditions of Elba, producers, restaurateurs, artisans of taste, breeders, winemakers, farmers, traders but also the entire world of tourist welcome because the event promises to be full of potential for the construction of tourist packages that fill that intermediate season, between Easter and summer, when the discovery of the island is not concentrated on the “sea” segment but aims at enjoyment of a naturalistic and cultural heritage of great value, spread throughout the territory.
Flavors & Traditions of the Island
The Island has a “heroic” tradition linked to the “crafts of the land”, made up of knowledge and flavours, emotions and traditions which are the true identity heritage of the Island. Sapori & Tradizioni 2024 is the celebration of a community that tells its story through food which, as we know, is culture. The products of the land and sea narrate the extraordinary marine and terrestrial biodiversity, as well as the geology, of the island, beautiful however fragile. Traditional dishes tell of lifestyles and habits, they speak of hard-working people who drew sustenance from the products of nature, whether they were mines, forests, seabeds or vineyards.
Local products and knowledge
The use of local products testifies to the transmission of knowledge and experiences handed down from father to son. These are the material and immaterial values that make a tourist destination unique and build the loyalty of traveling guests. The challenge of the island’s tourist offer based on health, well-being, authenticity, emotions and the senses is therefore played on these values.
Agri-food supply chain fair

The Agri-Food Supply Chain Fair starts thanks to the commitment of the Municipality of Capoliveri, on the proposal of the APAM Association – Amici di Penna, Arte e Musica, welcomed and shared from the Pro Loco of Capoliveri which will once again make use of the proven organizational ability of its members who actively collaborate with the entire Capoliveri community. The proposal was enthusiastically welcomed by the Italian Academy of Cuisine Elba Delegation which will guarantee the quality and originality of the food and wine proposals with the participation of Antonio Arrighi, Alvaro Claudi, Isabella Zolfino, Agostino Stefani, Patrizia Lupi at the round table, moderated by Rossana Galletti , which will be held on Tuesday 30 April at 5.30 pm at the Flamingo theatre.
There are many supporters of the agri-food fair
Also partners are the provincial Confesercenti Livorno, led on Elba by Marcello Bargellini, who for years has been promoting the culture of food with the Isola in Tavola event; Coldiretti, which includes numerous Elban agricultural companies, chaired by Guido Allori, an authoritative “veteran” of the sector; by the Isola d’Elba Foundation, leader of the “Citizens Custodians of Elba Rural Culture” project which brought together around 70 public and private entities on the island, to encourage an intergenerational narrative that finds inspiration in the past to build new jobs in the supply chain agri-food that accompany a sustainable tourism project.
Flavors and Traditions of Elba Fair and plans for the future
“After this testing phase – claims the Mayor of Capoliveri, Walter Montagna – it will be necessary to refine the experience and involve an ever-increasing number of producers from all over the island to give them the opportunity not only to present and have their products tasted, but also to sell them in the “Villaggio del Gusto”. An event like this qualifies Elba’s territorial marketing proposal, and could also be extended to other municipalities on the island thanks to the involvement of the Pro Loco of the various towns, coordinated among themselves, which, like that of Capoliveri, together with the numerous associations of the Third Sector, they fill every part of the island with meaning and initiatives, and not just in the summer.”
He is joined by the organizers: “We thought of a Fair – adds event coordinator Peppe Puccini, APAM president – that brings together past and present, traditions and skills, convivial moments and culture. An ambitious project that lasts three days to attract food and wine and environmental tourism enthusiasts to the island, before the high season even begins.
Paolo Martino, President of the Pro Loco, is on the same wavelength: “The Grape Festival in October, theQuarryman’s Festival in June and the Poor Fish Festival in July, all events which we organize every year, tell a cross-section of local history and are a great success. This new event brings together a series of important partners, not only at a local level, allowing everyone to grow by increasingly improving Elba’s tourist offer. The Pro Loco are the interface between tourists and the inhabitants of the villages and we have an important role in making guests feel at home, also sharing our traditions with them“
Flavors and Traditions of Elba, three-day fair
The Flavors and Traditions of Elba Festival will open its doors on Monday 29th April with the inauguration and opening of the stands of local companies at 3pm. It will continue on Tuesday 30th, always starting at the same time, and on Wednesday 1st May, with start at 1pm for the Baccellata Capoliverese. The calendar of events is varied until the evening, including music, tastings, stories, gastronomic marathons in the town’s restaurants, conferences, music, poetic readings and performances by chefs who work on the island.
