looking for new ideas for the workshops of the “Symphonies of young talents” project of the Elba Island Foundation and Linc Cooperative
Work in progress for the May Festival for the “Symphonies of young talents” festival, open to all citizens, who will conclude the homonymous project of which the Isola d’Elba and partner Foundation is the Linc Cooperative, made with the contribution of the Italian Youth Agency through the financial resources referred to in the agreement stipulated with the Department for Youth Policies and the Universal Civil Service of the PCM, approved with a commissioner determination on August 21, 2024, with prot. May Festival – Elba Island Foundation and Linc Cooperative
The Isola d’Elba Foundation and the Linc Cooperative were able to draw on the resources of the Fund for youth policies by sharing the goal of the Youth Agency which is to encourage the involvement of young people starting from the local context by providing for the activation of “community garrisons” in which to promote the culture of commitment, legality, participation, solidarity.
Numerous young inhabitants of the island have already responded to the appeal who are actively collaborating, from the early stages, to the design proposal, and which in recent months have been creating the program of activities that will end with the May Festival.
Young people from 16 to 25 years old, in the musical field
What are the methods of participation? All young people aged 16 to 25 can participate, interested and engaged in the musical, artistic and entertainment fields that will have resources, aggregation places and tools for workshops for free. The Linc operators, Martina Lo Coco and Massimo Galli, responsible for the workshops, are collaborating with three professionals who are the representatives and tutors of the young participants: Marco Corsi, singing teacher, Alice Mancini, a sociologist expert in therapies with the use of the circus arts, Novella Morellini, psychomotorist, graduated in the theater.
Two musical groups of Giovanissimi responded to the first call, a group of girls for Teatro-Circo, Christopher Radclyffe, a young promise of literature who will play original poems, and Vincenzo Monaco, self-taught photographer who will organize his own exhibition.
Festival on May days
The tests have started since the beginning of the year. Each group meets weekly, to conceive, create and create its own performance. The children of the Exodus community also replied to the appeal La Mammletta di Portoferraio, who have long been committed to learning music and who will propose their own musical performance and organize creative workshops to be presented on the festival days. The program of the May days includes a rich ladder of concerts and shows and will be enriched by artistic workshops and a photographic exhibition.
Anyone who wants to participate can join the workshops in free form by bringing new ideas and suggestions, giving vent to their creativity and passions, becoming “masters” of their peers, sharing talents and passions.
The locations of the Festival, Procchio and Portoferraio.
The municipalities of Marciana and Portoferraio who have their support have been involved for the headquarters of Festival: the festival will be created in the amphitheater equipped park of Procchio and in the historic center of Portoferraio, to be confirmed if the Medici fortresses or the tower of the languages are more suitable. In any case, places of cultural, historical and tourist interest have been identified, so as to enhance public spaces in favor of the Elban population and be easily accessible from tourists who will arrive on the island already in May.
The will of the organization is to be able to create an event that allows the encounter and exchange between the public and the young participants-organizers: a way to open up to an intergenerational dialogue by sharing talents and enthusiasm through the musical, artistic or theatrical expression.
