The support and appeal of the Elba Island Foundation
Elba, by its history and nature, is a resilient island, capable of strengthening the ties between its inhabitants in the most difficult moments, overcoming divisions, bell -colors, prejudices, political positions or personal events.
The natural calamity that has gone to many locations on the island damage to common goods, natural heritage and activities and properties of many citizens, collecting the energies of all those who love their land and suffer in seeing it offended by atmospheric events , unexpected and unpredictable.
Elba – fragile and marginal island, however rich and lucky for the beauty of the landscapes, the deep and multiple cultural roots, the unique environment for Geo and biodiversity – is now facing an emergency that, after passing the first moment of apprehension, has seen its citizens engaged in concrete actions of solidarity and support, starting from young people and those who work to stem the damage caused by bad weather. A sincere thanks to all those who are working in the mud and supporting, even morally, the population.
The solidarity of the Island of Elba Foundation goes to our councilor Tiziano Nocentini, mayor of Portoferraio, the city most affected by the event, at the same time as all the administrators and above all to the citizens of the island who have undergone the consequences of the storm.
A commendation goes to civil protection, the firefighters, to the police all, the principals and staff and associations operating in the health sector, who have made available men and means to support rescue and assistance operations.
The Island of Elba Foundation, engaged for years on environmental, cultural and social issues, having as its objective the sustainable development of the island and the well -being of the community, also on this occasion is put at the service of the island to support initiatives, also of Other entities in the third sector, for rescue and assistance actions.
In particular, it invites its members and friends to contribute to the appeal of the Banca dell’Elba , or other organizations, for a fundraiser who will then be managed by the Municipality of Portoferraio, paying a contribution on a dedicated current account, whose references are as follows:
